Notes primarily sourced from a player who graciously shared their efforts with me in exchange for some extra XP.

2 strangers, a newbie and an experienced player.

Fiery wine. (1d6+1 healing but causes berserking.) Iron ingots (a few gp)

Information was sought:

  • If you see the sign of the cross you can rest safely
  • The ancient forest cult is working in the mountains, beware the stone circles
  • There is a recent party sent out, they saw undead monks chanting (in chapel)
  • Someone sold old wine
  • Malevol family producing wine for centuries - family is long-lived. No one hired. No shopping.

  • S: vegetable garden in front of stable (potatoes + scare crow.) stables w/ stone buildings (debris in one stall.) Hayloft empty except saddle bag w/ flask w/ label fiery wine)
  • (W 40x40 ROOM with anvil, hammer attack, iron ingots. tried to take hammer but it attacked again later. melted it in forge.) ( center 30’ 30’ STABLE ROOM) (E 7 skeletons, target practice w/ hanging body in plate armor. surprised, left, spiked door.)
  • E: cobble path to E entrance. small buildings near double doors
  • N: Pavilion w/ arm outreached, well sculpted, wistful. Another pavilion on tiny island in shallow pond. Coffin: written “Tristan Malevol” the love lost." 4 hands on the coffin. Met skeleton inside who had 4 hands. He wanted a woman from the town and was annoyed but skipped away cheerfully.
  • N: a rose garden, 10’ parapet. drowsiness; burn away the roses and animated limbs. garden shed; push spot on the wall to use secret door
  • 30’-20’ secret room from garden shed. Speakeasy. ghosts disappeared. bottle of ghost gin. north door leads to ghost nursery
  • N: 30’ x 30’ room. cradles swaying empty 8x Exit to N & E
  • E: hallway runs North-south. door 30FT NORTH. hallway turns at the south to east. x5 men, elderly clothing wealthy; discussing whether or not they can ruin performance by mistuning a piano key; it would show the performer is incompetent; performer = Maltricia Malevol. Hear wolf howl in hallway
  • Room N of nursey = armory x7 rotting, standing bodies enormous floating head watching the action; surprised and spiked the door.
  • Another door: 30x30’: white sheets fluttering ; swarm of severed hands chasing cloud, sparkling + glittering with purple heart shaped bottle in center

The party retraced steps and escaped alive before our time ran out.

Playing with only two players can be even better than playing with a big group. Small parties are good. We had a good time.

Also, it was a successful, fun night for all 3 of us despite the lack of conflict and the lack of treasure.

I didn’t bring my graph paper this time because players haven’t been interested in mapping. I intended to instead model point-mapping on my white board for them. Tonight was the night I had a player who wanted to map specifics and was experienced in doing so. Whoops.
