Jennae went in the horse stalls and immediately saw a pile of large bugs on debris within one of the stalls. She instantly retreated!

They awoke Tristano Malevol at the garden lake (actually barely a pond.) I asked players to determine the attractiveness of their characters, and they decided to use their Charisma scores. Tristano was enfatuated with Jennae. She agreed to meet him in the basement rose garden.

They followed him a bit but stopped at the outer court to examine remaining statues.

Scaley ape statue talked to them. Gave them a riddle. They want to solve it and spent the session mostly with that plan but lost sight of this plan when no further clues arose upon entering what seemed to be the correct region.

Opened the plug, threw in a torch. No explosion, so they dropped a rope down and Fisk grabbed a broken sheath from the water, then lowered into the water. In response, over a dozen zombies started to get up out of the water. He got initiative and climbed up quickly. They don’t know how big the room is, much less what’s inside. The put the plug back and went to the ball room.

They didn’t find anything they wanted in there, so Jennae proposed going back to the lab to try to get the locked door open.

They found a sitting room with paintings and silver cups (real treasure, finally!) and took them. There was also a hookah that three of them smoked, resulting in a new (temporary) spell for Steve. The other 2 fell asleep, feeling very refreshed afterward.

When they got to the lab, it popped right open with a crowbar, but it was empty. She examined it very carefully with a 10 foot pole, but found nothing. While she was doing so, Giselle arrived and seemed a bit out of it, so Steve started to cast Charm Person, but Giselle acted first. Giselle failed to hit Steve, but she made her save against Charm Person.

They fought quite well for a bit, doing much damage. When they decided to flee she sighed and rolled her eyes as they left.

They descended the rope at the bridge that was still there from the previous expedition, and made off with their loot.


  • Still no deaths (neither PC nor NPC!) One of the players has 2 characters anyway, but she’s only using one at a time!

  • I don’t want my players to think Charisma = beauty. I told them attractiveness is just one of the things that might contribute to a high Charisma score.

  • I forgot to do Giselle’s morale check for half-health until after they decided to flee, so when she failed it, I had her sigh and roll her eyes as they left.

  • My players didn’t know that the hookah healed them, since their HP was already full.
